I like to look at those problems people have & find the answers. We have to resolve client inquiries with traffic & statistics all the time so I think today’s question can apply to some of you.
Now I want to say I’m pretty happy using Wixi’s parking service. I’ve done a few tweeks lately & revenue from parking is actually getting better little by little. Even though I’ve pulled off domains & started developing.
So my question of the year is:
Let’s say you have a domain parked. You get 2,000 visits for the month. You have a 40% Click through rate but your average click costs is .03 cents.
How is this possible?
Should I be worried about rogue bots? Spammers? Will I get this domain kicked off parking because the Click through rate is too high.
Ok that’s it for me let’s see what answers you guys give then I’ll update ya.
I’ll wait till I have a few comments by various individuals then I’ll answer it fully.
I’ll tell you if one of you get it right.

Well, I guess you should look at the origin of traffic first. If the traffic seems organic, then I wouldn't worry that much.
If you see that traffic is highly suspicious, like all coming from one IP, then you should probably somehow block that IP from visiting your page.
Great first reply Sunny. In respects to IP blocking while parking a domain it sounds good. Do you do this yourself? Are you checking IPs on your parked domains? Checking where the traffic comes from is a big part of the correct answer (in my case). Keep them coming. You'll learn a lot on this post.
I don't normally check raw log data because my parking company(Namedrive) doesn't normally let me see it unless I email them and ask for it. I did it only once, when I wanted to see from which browser does the traffic come from to my russian IDNs, and it appeared to be Opera. Which is kind of sad actually, because starting from the beginning of this spring Opera discontinued appending ".com" to whatever is written in the URL bar, and so traffic is supposed to decrease, even though I didn't notice much of a decrease yet.
Your answer really falls in line to why I keep writing know where your traffic comes from "even parked traffic". Most don't know where traffic comes from & the answer to my initial question the first step was finding out where the traffic was coming from. I'm trying not to spoil the real answer so waiting for a few more good replies.
Mobile traffic ?
Also the country of origin of traffic can have an influence if you have geotargeted ads.
Great Answer JSL!!!
The answer is mobile. Japan has a really developed mobile market. Even though my domain is parked I set it up so that I can track everything associated with the domain. It's trending towards 2000 uniques this month 95% of which is mobile. The CPC on mobile advertising is extremely low on average.
So if I didn't set my domain up like this I'd think it was foul play but since I know where my traffic comes from NameDrive & Google does too so it was no issue of being worried.
