Aside from JPRS who could run .日本 ?

I don’t post much about .日本 mainly because there’s a lot that lead up to finally getting there & JPRS has been burnt in the past by promoting IDNs.

I just wonder looking through one of the JPRS sites & seeing that there is a deadline until the 15th of the most to try to run the .日本 registrations.

There’s only 2 companies I could think of remotely interested in this & big enough to do it right. That’s JPRS or GMO. Personally I don’t “think” GMO would run it because of the hassle factor. Many companies are now recovering from last years economic downfall & still want to be a bit streamlined. Either way they make money if JPRS gets it & starts promoting .日本.

Best & most misleading posts I’ve seen

I saw this post from Ron Jackson & thought with his reach this is fantastic.
He shows that he was making pennies from parking with good keyword domains compared to development of his domains using a service. The difference is tremendous. If you can’t develop much just do a fraction. It will make a difference.

Here’s the Post

Then I saw this

Google Now Enables International Targeting of .Co Domain Name
http://domainnamewire.com/2010/08/04/google-now-enables-international-targeting-of-co-domain-name/

It states that Google gave a confirmation about the ability to target your domain to global users after you confirm the website in Webmaster tools.

Notice the words WEBMASTER & WEBSITE

When I think of domainers & the 300,000 people who are registering the .co I’m thinking DOMAIN & Parking page.
Google does not view parked domains as websites & that confirmation won’t really help domainers. Unless you are developing those .CO that Google confirmation won’t mean much. Sorry but it’s true.

Google means sites where you might advertising a business service & continue to add content & attract users.

Truly .co is pretty expensive, the economy is bad & I don’t want people wasting money.

This month service special

Ok guys i can offer something now on my own that I couldn’t offer before.

Month of August only. I recently opened up my own account. I’ll update your keyword stats for Yahoo search.

$100 for up to 100 keywords.

Send me a list of keywords & I’ll update it with impressions average max CPC. The CPC portion should only be used as a measure of what advertisers pay, not what you will receive per click.

If anyone interested please email me at sales at nameesq.jp
Or use the contact form (but emailing might be better)
Payment at time of order is by paypal.
I’m not responsible if some keywords don’t have keyword volume data.

Wouldn’t it be good to have updated Yahoo search volumes for this year?

Tips for development

It’s no secret that lately I’ve gotten back into the development mode. I’ve been trying to match ways to add meaningful content to my sites. Some ways are harder than others & all cost at the end of the day.

For the last few months I’ve spent a few thousand to get software I need & get programmers to do small fixes for me. Even though I’m not being as critical as I should be with the site designs I’m finally able to speedily create some bulk sites.

These are a few tips you can do to develop your IDNs

1. Match your domain to site content matching what people are looking for.
For example I have job or Loan related domains, even though I could put a bookstore up is that what the potential site users is looking for? No they aren’t.

2. Make sure your script is unicode friendly & can generate content in your domain’s language.
If you are like me & bad at database stuff you’ll want to make sure the script can handle your language.

3. Start UGLY
IDN Forums or IDN Talk or most of my sites (or former sites) usually start out ugly as I go through later & tweek them as I receive data. Leaving it ugly makes one think when they come back that your site is expanding or getting better. Sometimes speed is an issue too. Get it up quick & capture an audience.

4. Pick scripts you can use across multiple sites.
The current software that I’m using can be easily used with at least 10 of my IDNs & I’m taking advantage of it at a fast rate.

5. Something is better than nothing
You’re traffic you get from development will usually always beat parking. Parking is good for your domain overstock but develop some of the good ones.

6. Start with the bottom domains
If you plan to develop 10 domains with the same platform start off with the worst domains. As you proceed & tweak the scripts you want to work your way up to your better domains. This is a clear reason why I haven’t developed the top domains yet but expect them to come soon.

With a few sites I believe there’s an opportunity to create a baseline to pay for your portfolio.

If you think that I’m going to develop make money & keep buying domains, you are highly mistaken. I got about everything I could want for the Japanese market & more.

Site de-indexed from Yahoo Japan? don’t sweat it..

As domain owners we sometimes are in disillusion that a parking page is a website. It’s not. Sometime or highly rich keyword domains shows up in the top of the top of the Yahoo Japan search results & usually some company that wants to rank for that keyword complains & wham your parking page is de-indexed.

Have you ever looked through your parking stats from 2 years ago & noticed certain domains had some traffic & now have none? You might be the victim of being de-indexed. I have at least 10 or so domains that someone named their site exactly or almost exactly the same as my IDN domain. Both .jp & .com this has happened. So one which is travel related there is a company who has the ASCII (romaji version) & promotes it a quite a lot. When I looked at my parking stats it had so little traffic. Then I tried to search for it on Yahoo. It didn’t show up.

Please note if you search for your IDN with EXT & it doesn’t come up first most likely you have been de-indexed.

So what do you?

Deindexing on Yahoo Japan is not permanent. You can easily get reincluded in about a month. When I noticed my domain was gone this is what I did.

1. Move it to another server, anywhere.
2. Put up a few pages of content or in my case & uploaded an empty wordpress blog.
3. Put a few links pointing to it.
4. In about one month your site will be back in Yahoo Japan’s index.

You can switch back to parking if you want after that as your complainer may not be aware of your site being back up so soon.

I want to explain the logic behind it.

Parking Pages are getting more popular in Japan Yahoo can easily determine to de-index it as it’s NOT a website.

An unfinished or bad looking website cannot be easily de indexed by complaint’s because it still in a website. Yahoo staff doesn’t have the right to de index a web site because it looks bad, or it’s not finished unless lots of sites start overtaking the search results like this.
